What's wrong w/ my 66 year old father?

Last Thursday, he tried to access his Wells Fargo bank account online.

We went to the bank to get it re set. He forgot to bring ID. He always brings ID to the bank, of course to verify.

He says "I'm confused."or some variation of it at LEAST 40 times in 1 hour !

He came home and could not open the garage door after doing it for more than 10 years with the remote function on the car.

He couldn't find his AMEX after I asked him "Where is the credit card?"

He scooped rice out of the rice cooker, but couldn't find a bowl to put the rice in.

He admitted to giving loads of money to his mistress/girlfriend.

He has thoughts of homicide for her and her group.

I know I have to take him to see the doctor. I'm trying to get help from my sister. But how? Is this dementia? Alzheimer's? schizophrenia?

Deffinetly not scitzaphrenia. could be early onset of alzhymers or dementia. Only a doctor would be able to accurately detect which. At the same time though forgetting your wallet or a bowl for rice, that is just simple stuff that can happen to anybody, for some people, a regular basis. Having cared for alot of people in nursing homes, i can say, just be patient with him. Give him love, support and a caring heart. He is going to need it. Imagine what he is going through. During early onset, the person knows something is going on but usually not what. Mentally, he is probably scared to death. Just do what you can and be there for him as much as possible. Be strong. God Bless you and your dad.

Sounds like it could be dementia
