How do you get a GameCube game to stop crashing?
My brother needs help. He just bought quttich world cup for GameCube a couple days ago, a game he used to love as a kid. And it works great. That is, the first level works great. Every time you beat slytherin, during the celebration animation, the game crashes. I hate that game, but I also hate seeing him so upset. The disk is scratched up, but I really don't want to try anything like the toothpaste trick. I'm worried I'll break it and I'll have to get him a new copy. I also don't want to try anything too expensive, like bringing it to a shop. So I have a request: I need a trick that's quick and easy to do and is effective for this purpose. It cant be too risky or expensive. Please and thank you.

Use pledge. Yahoo has shown that it works the best among the home remedies.
If you don't want to go that route, you can buy a disk resurfacer. It's about 30 dollars but it works.

A disc resurfacer would probably be the most effective, but unless game stores are way different where you live than where I'm from, taking it in wouldn't be expensive at all. The most I've ever been charged for a disc buffing is $5.
But you could prolly also take it back. It qualifies as defective. The game's only like 49 cents on Amazon right now anyways, it wouldn't be that hard to replace.
If you don't want to do any of that though, Pledge is probably your best bet.
