What to do about my youth group?

It's change, their isn't a whole lot you can do besides wait and pray. Pray to God that things work out and that you and your friend work things out.

Ummm you said it yourself "my friends are upset because our old youth pastors are moving"

Part of growing up is learning how to appropriately express emotion. Some people never get the hang of that, to be honest.

Right now the new pastor is disliked simply because he's not the old pastor. It's like when my son was born. His Mom would go off to school during the day and I would take care of him during the day, and he was ANGRY at me...really angry at me... simply because I wasn't his Mommie. It wasn't like I could do anything about that.. but he was only 1 and didn't know or care about that. All he knew was he wanted Mommie and I was NOT HER. So he didn't like that... so he didn't like me.

So your friends are doing the same thing. They don't want to like the new pastor because they feel that doing so makes them disloyal to the old pastor. They don't like you or the pastor son for the same reason. It's not very smart and it's not very mature, who is at that age? I wasn't.

So don't freak out. With any luck this will pass in a few weeks, and everything will work out.

Churches are often like this, alas. You of course might be just a teensy bit biased considering you appear to be sweet on the son. ;) Stick with your new friends and let the old ones know you're ready to be friends with anyone who's friendly and don't give a fig for anyone who's not. Don't let yourself fall for a boy all at once. Get to know him first (and no, you DON'T know him yet.)

Not sure how old you are but it sounds like a young crowd. Younger people generally want their friends to agree with them its like "I have your back". You dont have to follow the crowd. If your friends are that petty that they would drop you just because you dont agree with them, then find new friends hun. Real friends arnt going to get rid of you for something that petty.

seems to me the so called youth group is about itself and NOTHING about God the reason they are suppose to be there to start with...But as i keep telling people..God said He Does NOT dwell in temples made with hands and why HE is not among you !!!!
