excel 97 radio button groups?
I have two groups of radio buttons on a spreadsheet.
One group hides/unhides various rows, the other hides/unhides various columns.
I want a radio button/dot to appear once in each group but at the moment they only get one dot to share between them.
Any ideas?

As you state you are using Excel 97, you will have to use a Group Box to accomplish your goal.
To do this you will have to use the Forms control toolbar. Go to View > Toolbars and see if there is a check mark to the left of the Forms menu item. If not, then check it.
When the Forms toolbar is visible, click the Group Box icon ( it looks like a border with the letters X, Y, and Z at the top.
Select this icon and then click on the worksheet and drag a Group Box onto the worksheet. Size and position it as desired.
Drag the option buttons you wish to be controlled by this group box inside of the group box.
To change the heading for the group box, right click it and select 'Edit text'. Set the appropriate title for the group box, or delete the title completely.
Repeat the process for the second set of option buttons.

You need to group them together either using a Group Box or a Microsoft Forms 2.0 Frame. The first is easy enough to do.
Go to the Developer Menu, click on Insert, and select Group Control (Form Control). It's the option in the upper half that looks like a box with "xyz" at the top. All you need to do is add the radio buttons inside of that form control. Create another Group Control with its own radio buttons and you should now be able to select the radio buttons for each group. I will say this type of form isn't very professional looking. A more aesthetically pleasing form is the Microsoft Forms 2.0 Frame, but it's more complicated to use.
Go to Develop, Insert, click on the icon that looks like a Toolbox and scroll down to Microsoft Forms 2.0 Frame. Click on that and create a frame in Excel. This is the tricky part because you can't just add a radio button from the toolbar, you have to add it from the Toolbar option for that Frame.
In Design Mode, right-click on the Frame, on the context menu that opens, go to "Frame Object", then Edit. A Toolbox window should appear next to the frame. Add the radio buttons from that toolbox.

Try asking at the free forums at
They have an interface that is better suited to Excel questions than YA's interface.
And your question will require a good deal of back and forth.
