Post Funeral Wake. Do you think it's better at a family member's home or at a "venue"?
I'm currently arranging my Father's funeral. Originally my older sister offered to hold the wake at her home, which is fairly near my mother's house. I likewise offered my home which is slightly larger, although four few miles further away.
My other sister has now decided to move the wake to a hotel/restaurant to save "my older sister the stress of doing the wake".
I've always preferred having the in a home environment were possible as it's more comforting and homely. In fact I recently held one at mine for a relative at it was much easier for the kids.
What are your thought.... Home or away?

I think you should do whatever is the easiest for everyone and that is likely having it away from the house (no worries over cleaning--before and after the event--parking, etc)..

Many people use a venue because it can hold more people, there is no need to worry about parking, cleaning up, etc. You simply show up and the staff takes care of the rest. Simple.
Other people prefer to meet up at a family member's house for the more intimate setting.
It really comes down to the choice of the family. Personally, I'd prefer the post-funeral meeting to be at a venue, but others would disagree.
When I arrange funerals (I'm a funeral director), a lot of people ask me this question, and I tell them pretty much exactly what I told you.
