Why are they questions appearing where the word liberal is used as an insult when clearly it isn't an insult?
Given that liberals believe in equality and social freedom and that most westerners are effectively liberal.
4 AnswersMental Health5 years agoIn Genesis it states that "Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness"?
In Genesis it states that "Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness" However, clearly no two humans are genetically alike (with the exception of some multiple births) and there is a very large range even outside genetics, in for example, skin colour, eye shape, hair structure etc.
The obvious answer to to take Genesis as allegorical and that it isn't meant to be taken literately. However Ken Ham (I will not use the doctor as it's honorary) states that the Bible is an historical document? Hence either we are not all made in god's image but a bit like him/her and there for Ken is wrong or we are made in his/her likeness but only some of us and the vast majority of us are NOT God's children
If you are a Ken fan. How do you address this apparent problem?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoPost Funeral Wake. Do you think it's better at a family member's home or at a "venue"?
I'm currently arranging my Father's funeral. Originally my older sister offered to hold the wake at her home, which is fairly near my mother's house. I likewise offered my home which is slightly larger, although four few miles further away.
My other sister has now decided to move the wake to a hotel/restaurant to save "my older sister the stress of doing the wake".
I've always preferred having the in a home environment were possible as it's more comforting and homely. In fact I recently held one at mine for a relative at it was much easier for the kids.
What are your thought.... Home or away?

I'm thinking about getting a new Mark III vRS with the DSG gear box. Can somebody confirm if this is a paddle shifter as standard as it isn't shown on any of the images.
1 AnswerSkoda7 years agoPaying the sticker price for a car?
This afternoon I went to buy a brand new car. Now I have always believed that the sticker price is the saleman(woman)s opening gambit and only suckers pay it. Cars are the second most expensive thing a person normally purchases in their lives so you should bargain. I told them I was interested in the car but I'd like them to move on price somewhat. Previous experience suggested that I could expect at least 5% off. However, the dealer offered 0.4% (yes 0.4%) and would not move, at all, not an inch. So I did the right thing, I walked out (btw I had a better deal elsewhere in my pocket). The question here is what happened? Did the dealer miscalculate and assumed I could just accept the offer, do they for some reason really have no margin or perhaps it was just a poor sales person? thought please?
4 AnswersBuying & Selling8 years agoWhy is the US so right wing compared to Europe?
So now the US election is over can somebody explain to me how nearly half the people of the US, who are effectively of European decent, can vote for somebody so right wing he makes Nick Griffin looks almost, and I do mean, almost, sensible*. Especially, when you consider that Obama's policies look quite right wing from a European prospective. Is it that we fought three massive Pan European wars in 150 Years or is it perhaps something to do with the kind of people who choose to leave their country of birth and start new lives. Or maybe it's just because we are a little less backward and a bit more grown up? Or maybe we are less influenced by religion. Thoughts people?
*For those who don't know - Nick is the leader of the British Nationalist Party, A far right minority party that has little or no voice in Government.

10 AnswersPolitics9 years agoCan some explain to me how astrology actually works?
Can some explain to me how astrology actually works? There doesn't seem to any way for it to work without the universe being deterministic. And if the universe is deterministic doesn't that mean that I have no control over my life and I can do what the hell I like.
10 AnswersHoroscopes9 years agoHow does (or should) society measure success?
To elaborate should we measure it by material wealth, income or social standing. May be a combination of criteria? Is a person who inherited wealth as successful as a doctor, or somebody in a poorly paid job that is considered by society as making an important contribution?
What are your thoughts?
4 AnswersOther - Society & Culture9 years agoThis isn't a 2012 or moon landing question!?
It's about conspiracy theorist who post a lot on the astronomy forum, much to my annoyance .
No matter how much evidence to the contrary you give them they still believe. They choose to ignore facts or twist them to fit their own ideas, even to the point of including those presenting the evidence as being part of the conspiracy.
The question is why?

So is this effectively a psychological disorder?

I know it's the title of a book, but it seems to have been around longer than that. Any ideas what it means and where it came from?
1 AnswerQuotations10 years agoDiscovery, Defender or Land Cruiser?
OK I'm thinking about adding another offroader to join my disco. The question is what do I go for. I'm going to offroad it, most likely overseas. Defender - I can fix it but it will break, Land Cruiser - Will not break that often but when it does it will be costly. Defender great off road terrible on road, Land Cruiser, ok on both. What to you guys and girls think I should go for (no Jeeps please, I'd rather slash my wrists).

1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoShould I bother answering questions?
I don't mind answering genuine questions but then somebody copy and pastes their homework to yahoo! answers I object. Normally I answer that they would learn more if they do what they can then discuss the problem with their tutor. However, I almost aways get 10 points docked when I do this. So I ask. If yahoo is encouraging cheating should I bother any more?
