The religiosity of America is that by design or by a natural process?
I am not sure if America was ever a great nation. But this opposition to science by some religious sects can not be good for the country as a whole. I read that 30% believe in creationism not evolution.

It's higher than that. If it's as low as 30%, America is making progress.
If by "design" you mean active conversion and infiltration of politics and law by religion, yes.

It is a byproduct of the dumbing down of the country so that the rich could get richer and more powerful.
Those people that believe in creationism also believe in the literal story of Noah and the flood. You will never get an intelligent conversation from them.
