Dog owners, do you wash your dog at home?

What do you prefer? Washing your dog at home, having the dog groomed, or a self serve dog wash?

I've never seen a self serve dog wash. I prefer to wash my dog outside in summer using a garden hose. In winter I wash as rarely as possible, but if necessary in the shower.

Fortunately I have dogs with simple coat which don't need much grooming at all.

I used to wash and groom my dogs, till I developed arthritis in my legs, back and left hand.

Also have a heart condition and can't lift dogs into the tub any more.

I am in a wheel chair some of the time and just can't do it any more.

I have a lady come with a portable truck, she uses my facilities and bathes and grooms the dogs when necessary.

Also my handlers do the show dogs, so there is less for me to worry about.

Im just a typical dog owner , not a speacilist dog groomer and i do wash my dog at home .

I dont see why not ! Its free , and its not hard !

I have a big dog so it is more work but its still managable

In the summer i wash him outside with the hose , he loves that ! And drself uring the winter i take him to the bath and do it !

Just get yourself a good shampoo and if you want , u can also get conditioner .

    Its easy !

I prefer and do my dog's grooming myself. All that proffesional grooming from shops and all is totally a waste of money . What they do taking so much of our money can be done by ourselves in home too. In fact, it even increases the bond between the dog and the owner. My dogs have their nails clipped, coat clean and tidy and brushed properly, ears cleaned and teeth brushed though I have never taken them to a grooming shop or anything like that.

I do it at home. I'll never understand why people pay money to have their dog washed at a groomers. I completely understand taking your dog there for regular groomings (haircut), but I don't get why people can't wash a dog themselves. I also cut my own dogs nails and I clip my dogs coats on my own as well.

I Love the self serve dog wash.. We had one where I lived before.. None here, he goes to the Groomers, cause his nails have to be clipped and then a Bath… Not too much in the winter..

I'm a groomer so naturally I groom my own and others dogs, however any of the methods you list are just fine, and you choose what works best for you.

One of my dogs does go to the Groomer because he needs to be clippered, not just bathed. (Small Poodle mix) My other dog, a Doberman, either gets a bath in the tub or with the garden hose outside in the Summer. She only gets a bath once or twice a year.

It depends on the size of the dog and his obedience. If he's small and/or you have full control do it yourself it's cheaper and he'll get used to it if you do it regularly. When it comes to nail clipping though it's dependent on your strength versus your dogs and his obedience if you don't feel comfortable though take him some where because they are experienced.

I bathe my dogs at home and I cut their hair at home, I am not a groomer just cheap and overprotective! lol!
