Is it a common tactic of the narrow-minded to call other people narrow-minded?

I think that I am narrow-minded.
Jesus did not say enter in at the wide door.
He said enter in by the narrow gate.
I don't talk narrow with non-believers, just avoid following them down a wrong path. But I often feel like telling Christians to get their life right with the Lord. Fortunately I count to ten first and then don't say it (most of the time!).

We are all narrow-minded in the sense that we all, from birth, put things in different boxes in our brain. Those are labelled, good, bad, boring, etc. This is the profound nature of the brain, something we share with animals. If some berries make us sick, we must put it in the "bad" box to remember to avoid it next time we are out in the jungle.
The problem is that we sometimes meet a conflict, what is called, "cognitive dissonance." For example: why do we go to war when Jesus said that we must forgive our enemies? Since we like to be in the "happy place" in our brain, we then recourse to what is known as "confirmation bias," i.e. we seek only information that confirms our belief and keep us in a ... happy place! ;-)
It is as simple as that, my friend: we are all "narrow-minded," from evolutionary need.

Or it could just be that you are narrow minded.
I can not truly judge myself, but I really do try to consider all aspects of something, including religion, and try to pick what works, or what is real, whether I like it or not.
But religious people, even people who seem very open in other aspects of life, always seem to view life with their God Blinkers on:
God Did It that Way,
He Had A Reason.
That's All I need To Know.
Even when confronted with things that make no sense in terms of a creator I constantly see this attitude.
And that, irrespective of my openness or not, definitely is narrow minded.

Personally, I think every one of us is narrow-minded when it comes to our personal opinions and beliefs about anything.
I am of the opinion ... Keep an open mind but not so much that your brain falls out.

A narrow minded person says "I know" despite the lack of evidence.
An open minded person says "I don't know" when there is no evidence.

Don't know, I'm not narrow minded...maybe you are.
Jk

I don't know about common, but I have seen it done before. I think it's not so common as it is stand-out when we do see it. The calm reply does not stick in your mind as much as the vociferous asinine one.

No, it is entirely possible for open minded people to wish someone could expand just a bit.
We must cherish no belief so much that we can't be open to other possibilities.
No belief.

Seems to be.
Theists who have slammed their minds completely shut, claim to be "open minded', but will allow not one bit of honest information to enter it.
But honest information reduces their religion to gibberish. Silly theists, it was always gibberish.
