How many people would have the guts to do this to their friend?

Yes, Of course! I am pretty sure everyone would have the guts to hide the keys and refuse to give the keys back. Think about the two possible scenarios that could happen.

1) You let them drive home. - what is most likely to happen is that since they're so drunk they will crash.

2) You take the keys away from them - they don't drink drive, they are safe.

To keep a friend safe, I would do absolutely anything I can to protect them. :D

I've done that. My ex was really really drunk after a work party once (he was my coworker also and 41 years old, I was 18). Our boss (who is bigger than him...both men were very muscular and big) took his keys from him and wouldn't give them back. He gave them to me instead and had me drive my then boyfriend home. Yes my friends always hid my keys.. It's so dangerous. It's not worth driving drunk.

Ofcourse I'd hide the key. I wouldn't want my friend getting hurt or worse killed.
