Bad High School transcript, can i get accepted into University?

So, I have an unweighted GPA of 2.63, although that might go down this semester because I got an F. I was a lazy **** freshman year and didn't try. Now im a sophomore and I got As and one B, but an F, too. I'm retaking the class, but Im still worried that I wont be able to pass and not get accepted into a university. So here's my question: do I have a shot at getting accepted into ASU or UCLA or another university, or is community college (and then maybe transferring) my best bet? I've already taken some college classes (foreign language).

The big issue is that colleges look primarily at 9th 10th and 11th grade grades to make their decision, you MUST do well on the SAT and ACT to guarantee your acceptance. Its rare but not unheard of that someone with an really bad GPA getting accepted to Ivy leagues based upon SAT/ACT scores and extra curricular activities. You definitely have a shot at getting into a university, but your going to have to work hard at it. Take some more college courses (only if you know you'll pass) and maybe some virtual courses if they are offered in your state. College courses can really help if they give you additional high school credits, I'm a sophomore also I'm in a special program where I essentially skip high school, with all the advanced courses I am taking and especially the college courses my GPA is at 4.92 right now (At the expense of my social life :/) See if you can dual-enroll at your community college.

I had a really good freshman year and pretty much destroyed it when I was a sophomore because I struggled with what my priorities were. I spent the next two years of high school trying to pull it up and graduated with a 2.7GPA but now I'm in a really great music school. So what I'll say to you is that anything is possible. Continue working and try to avoid F's do well on your SATs or ACTs (whatever you want to take) and see how it goes. UCLA is really hard to get into and considering your GPA it's a bit of a reach school but I would still apply to these schools because they may see the person behind the grades. Note: just know that you are questionable to some colleges because of your GPA, they'll wonder whether or not you can make it through a college environment and they'll give less aid. So just in case I would apply to a state school, community college and places you know you could get into to improve your chances + get gen eds out the way (they can be tedious)

Hard to tell. If you show consistent major improvement they may forget the low GPA. Community college may be the way to go if you want UCLA though.

I'm afraid not. one thing you could do though is apply for a 2-year school and then transfer into a 4-year school.
