Yep, it is likely the collection agency reported the debt to the credit bureaus. That's what happens when you don't pay bills.

Your only option at this point is to PAY the collection agnecy. You may be able to get them to delete the item from credit reports IF this is a recent debt and you pay in full.

As per Obummercare, you can be on your father's insurance up to age 26. Secondly, you must have avoided several bills and requests for payment because hospitals do not turn over bills to collection agencies quickly. {and, you knew you would be getting bills.} Have your father prove you were covered, and get the hospital to draw back the bill from the collection agency.

You can't "fix" it. Once it gets to a collection agency, it's too late to "fix" it. To keep it off your credit report, you need to pay before it gets to the collection agency; once it gets there, it's too late, and will go on your credit report, and stay there for 7 to 7 1/2 years, even if you pay sooner.

You need to pay it, but that won't fix your credit report.

You need to call hospital and provide insurance information, then provide same to collections. You should not pay them until you have itemized bill from hospital to review.

Have your father call the hospital and have him send proof you were covered.

You can try disputing it but its likely going to show back up again.
