Question about master card gift card?????????

I got one of those $50 mastercard gift cards but I don't know how to use it.

I tried buying something once and I tried several things before the payment went through. Because It says debit on it I tried debit first but that didn't work because it asked for a pin number. Then I tried gift card, but then a cancled it. I showed the cashier and she said credit, so I think she pressed credit and the payment went through, but I was wondering what button are you actually suppose to press?

You treat Mastercard/Visa/American Express gift cards as credit cards.

They are not gift cards, because those refer to the specific store gift cards, and you can't run them as debit because they don't have a PIN or even an issuing bank.

    Credit 100% of the time.

Source(s): I used to work at a store that sells them.

Take the card to the phone. There is an 800 number. Call that number and ask. If you bought something, it was funded with the money on the card. You can call and check on the balance or use the online site for that. You need the number on the front and the code number on the back. Or, take the receipt from the item you bought, and check it against the $50 That's what is left. If she bought it through as credit, that worked. In any case, there was money on it, and it is up to the store to figure it out.
