Helpful to know what kind of 2 stroke dirt bike. Lots of the older 2 strokes sold in US had flat black painted expansion chambers and header pipes with maybe a chromed stinger, often a chromed tube or flat vented metal heat shield added. The high temp black paint lasted awhile- but dings and scratchs from normal riding let the rust spots start on surface. The main rot rust is from the inside of mufflers, pipes-- and the 2 stroke oil made a protective film on the inside so some cruddy rust outsides expansion chambers still had a light carbon and oil coat inside. Chromed 2 stroke expansion chambers were more on the street models- my old Suzi T500 had chromed exhaust, the Yamaha 400 dual sport thumper had flat black exhaust with a chromed tip spark arrestor.

Dirt bike pipes are seldom chrome, but they are often shiny when new. If you ride it like it's meant to be ridden, it won't stay shiny very long.
