are all chemical reactions and ionic reaction?
i am doing some chemistry home work on ionic bonds and how they are formed and i am unsure do all reactions create an ionic bond or is it just some.

Some. There's also covalent bonds. I'm sure learning the octet rule won't do any harm. It states that every atom wants a full outer shell.
Consider the reaction between Sodium and Chlorine to form salt. Chlorine has 7 electrons in its outer shell, sodium has 9. Chlorine needs to gain one electron and sodium needs to lose one. In an ionic bond, Sodium gives away an electron to Chlorine and becomes positively charged, Chlorine accepts the electron to become negatively charged. They now are attracted to each other.
