Are the superfraternities dying?

Masons, Kiwanis, Elks, Moose, Rotary, Jaycees, Lions. Once they were the community security force that helped rebuild houses, save businesses from going under by volunteering to help a stricken owner, and so on. This has been replaced by government institutions and insurance payouts (if you're lucky enough to get one). So, what happens to the old guard? Are they dying out?

Update:

Hi Dragon. From what I've seen, most of these groups do try to do outreach programs in their community. Our Kiwanis club has assisted Salvation Army, a women's shelter, the local scout camp, YM and YW, raised about 20 G for scholarships annually, served senior citizen and handicapped child Christmas lunches and so on. Lion's have their glasses donations.

I remember being in DeMolay, and mostly it was helpful to me growing up marginalized in my high school, but there was the Chapter Dad that decided I was a good molestation target.

Yes, literally dieing out from old age. Its their fault though, if you are not as narrow-minded as they are then they get hostile at you. For instance, I knew a guy who had two brothers and sister who had been big mucky-mucks in the DeMolay and Rainbow Girls (young Masons), and because he did something else more important outside it they didn't want him part of it at all. I even wanted to find out something about it and Masons, but the old fossil in charge of telling people told me (and everyone else apparently) that it wasn't something to be curious about and they didn't want people who were curious and he wasn't about to let anybody join who was. Fine. He can choke on his club. And that is what has happened. No one is interested any more in associating with hostile pinheads. So their members get older and older with no one young coming in so they are all dieing out. Oh well.
