iPad mini sound problem?

Okay, so I switched my iPad mini off last night and out it on the charger and it was at 50%. I took It off the charger this morning and entered my pass code and I heard my keyboard clicks making strange noises. Then I played some music and then the sound quality sounded horrible! It almost sounds like shattered glass when I played music. I'm really worried that I may have to buy a new iPad. Is there anyway I can fix it?

Do a hard reset which is pressing the power button and home button at the sametime until the iPad turns off and turns on again. If this doesnt work you might need to completely reset your iPad, but first back it up to your computer so you dont lose your music and other stuff and reset it afterwards. If none of these options work you'll have to take it to an Apple store to get it fixed or a new iPad Mini

Im about to try Mikes answer. My audio on my iPad mini 1 went to crap big time after the 7.0.4 update last week.

It sounds over driven and crackly.
