How do color skinned people knees get ashy?

Ok I don't mean black people only, i mean all people with a color of skin. I'm curious to know, because my knees always get white like I rub chalk on it. how does that happen, like wha causes it?

    I guess some people have drier skin then others

    they were moist then got dry and then the air hit it causing it to turn white

    You must use a lotion immediately after showering/toweling. Vaseline Intensive lotion, Nivea lotion are good.

    They are dry, I just moisturise mine really well as they get discoloured easily.

    its dry skin. Use shea or coco butter lotion.
