Manual Gear shift problem?
The manual gear of my chevrolet is problematic now. Hard or fail to shift to 1st Gear mostly 2nd sometimes. It looks like some thing is blocking the movement of stick in base unit of stick. Last day select and shift Cables one wire was damaged at 6inches from lever due to extra forced shift. The play of lever sideways particularly leftward has reduced after cable change. It feels likes some friction grinding rubbing sound while moving gear from left to right or vice versa. Some one guide if it is local under lever problem or some thing wrong in gear box.

You could have two different issues here. First I need to know if the vehicle shifts ok when engine is off. If it does your issue is caused by your clutch not dis- engaging totally when the pedal is depressed.
Most common issues is insufficient pedal travel, worn or leaking slave cylinder ( can leak internally and loose pressure) or sticking clutch disc.
Noise while moving shifter left to right: clean and inspect pivot ball , then lube all shift components and re test.
If your noise is gone and you can up shift into all gears but have issue down shifting into second or grinding into second on hard acceleration , then you have a synchronizer issue.
