Why is the US spending 7 billion dollars to help other countries deal with global warmingt?

The way other countries deal with global warming impacts our national security. Here's how:

Global warming leads to shifting weather patterns lead to prolonged droughts in places not equipped to handle them lead to famine leads to destabilized regions leads to the rise of terrorists, warlords, and others who create a generally unsafe environment in which those who would attack us frequently use for safe haven. For example, the massive famine in Somalia in the 1990s lead to the situation we have now with pirates and terrorists using the country as a base even while the underlying problems that lead to that situation have improved significantly.

Given that we're the world's biggest contributor to global warming and among the most resistant (at least among major industrialized countries) to fixing it, it is a very small price to pay for the benefit.

Because left wingers think it's a crime for the US to be a wealthy country so they want to redistribute our nation's wealth to global welfare cases.
