My sister's kindle fire is locked, and even after 5 incorrect tries it doesn't prompt a factory reset.?
The Kindle Fire is unregistered and a huge waste o' money if I can't fix it. I've tried holding down the power button and then entering wrong passwords in hopes of being prompted to a factory reset, but every time it just says "you have entered 5 incorrect password attempts, try avian in thirty seconds,

Contact Kindle and use the online chat to connect with a tech support. They are pretty good at working through these problems.
Go to your online amazon account, click on Manage my Kindle. Left side of the screen, bottom of the column click on Kindle Help Home. From there click on Contact Us and follow the onscreen instructions. The best bet is using the online chat feature. Easier to follow the instructions when they are typed in front of you.
