Will 2014 be the first year in over a decade that Democrats show an interest in improving the US economy?

Or will it just be another year with them giving empty rhetoric of "focusing like a laser beam" on jobs while doing nothing but blocking jobs bills and pushing policies that destroy jobs?

No , they will talk about it if forced to but between the 0bamacare circus and amnesty for illegal aliens they won't have the time or energy to do anything good for America.

Most likely due to redistricting in the past 20 years we will see no real difference in 2014 elections. And the republicans will continue to push for removing all taxes from the top 2% of wealth holders, removal of all government services designed to help the majority of Americans. Watching interviews with perspective republican candidates all they keep talking about is "Obamacare". They still are the party of do nothing. They still don't want to take a reasonable approach to immigration, agriculture, min wage or anything that will improve conditions for working ppl. Instead every problem we face today is explained as part of a socialist conspiracy headed by the evil black man. Republicans would allow Americans to starve and go with out medical care because of the greed of corporations refusing to pay a living wage and real benefits. Of course they buy into the idea pushed by the ultra rich that the only reason the working class is so poor is they are lazy and stupid. Have you ever worked for a large company that though you worked to hard or deserved more wages or benefits?

That is the way of the rich. They look ate the ppl working hard and making money for them, all they see is a bunch of workers that are trying to take their money.

reelection politics are bound to come up sooner rather than later. I can see Democrats framing the lack of progress on Republicans. Republicans have been setting up roadblocks but in regards to what? Issues that will not reign in our debt or help our economy. President Obama has done too much trying to make his presidency history instead of trying to actually fix our broken nation. Not one systemic issue has been fixed this presidency, instead we have half baked measure like Insurance reform which took precedence over real economic reform.

It seems you must have been in a coma for the past 6 years and awaken to a FOX broadcast.

That is about the only way someone could get the reality of the situation as completely and utterly bass ackwards and you have.

Every Republicans "jobs bill" has just been a bunch of sweetheart tax cuts to really rich guys and more bank deregulation - Reid was absolutely right to block them.

The last thing he wants is to improve the economy. He wants us all to lose faith in capitalism so we succumb to socialism. It was obvious from day one of his campaign. Step 1, convince the country that they cannot survive without the government helping them. He's pretty much nailed it. Another historical step in implementing socialism/communism is getting the people to lose faith in banks and religion.

It's as if he read books on how to trick a populous into socialism, and he's following it to a T. Oh wait, that's exactly what happened.

Obama 2016 will be the first year. After he cleans up George Bush's messes and takes care of all the Muslims that is making him look bad

Isn't it ironic that the economy performed significantly better under Democrats than Republicans in the past 60ish years? In fact, Obama is the only modern Democrat that has failed to reduce the debt.

    Going back to JFK/LBJ:

--Personal disposable income has grown nearly 6 times more under Democratic presidents

--Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has grown 7 times more under Democratic presidents

--Corporate profits have grown over 16% more per year under Democratic presidents (they actually declined under Republicans by an average of 4.53%/year)

--Average annual compound return on the stock market has been 18 times greater under Democratic presidents (If you invested $100k for 40 years of Republican administrations you had $126k at the end, if you invested $100k for 40 years of Democrat administrations you had $3.9M at the end)

--Republican presidents added 2.5 times more to the national debt than Democratic presidents

Republicans may certainly be the loudest about the economy, but the economy has not performed as well under their leadership as it has under Democratic leadership.

No. I think that they will continue to ignore the economy in favor of their progressive agenda.

we won't give the rich massive tax cuts like you want, on top of the tax cuts they already have...

so no... by your ideas... we will not be focused on the economy...
