what is in the old water inside heating pipes? Is it dangerous?

Mine leaked empty onto the carpet.Soaked through to the second layer of carpet too. Its dry now, but there was mold. Is there anything in the water ( which was BLACK), that is harmful??

    no , not really, except for the mold. normally in old water pipes, (metal) theres just a little rust. your ok. stagnant old water sux too. it usually smells a little. if you can dilute a little bleach with water you can spray the places it spilled on, just be careful not to bleach out the carpet. it doesn't take a lot of bleach to kill the mold a couple teaspoons in a quart of water should do the trick.

    It's most likely iron from the pipes that turned the water black. This is not unusual. You're having mold because the spill was not thoroughly cleaned up. The mold can be a problem. Reclean the area with soap and water, then completely dry the rug, use a fan, hair dryer or dehumidifier.
