Fishbowl effect for high near-sightedness prescription?

Ok so the glasses I have now are -7.5 and the pair before that was 6.0.

I'm just asking you guys if you know around what prescription the weird bottle effect comes into place.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, then you probably don't wear a high prescription glasses

I don't think it is a specific power where, suddenly, the "fish bowl effect" happens, just that, gradually, the weird distortions get more pronounced as the prescription gets more powerful. It also depends a bit on the type of lenses and the size of the frames.

My prescription is -16.00 and -16.50, so I know exactly what you mean. Near the edge of the lenses, straight lines appear bent. For instance, vertical power poles look like they're bent over my head. If you think about it, you become more conscious of it. If you ignore it, it really isn't a problem. Going from -6.00 to -7.50, I suspect you must be about 16 -- that seems to be when eyes change the fastest. I don't remember exactly when I first noticed the fishbowl effect, but it was probably somewhere between -8.00 and -10.00. Let's hope your nearsightedness doesn't get as bad as mine!

The answer is yes, "most" people are right with this one. Far sighted can see far and not near and near sighted can see near and not far. Fun question, loved the wet nose part, berry int'eresting!!!
