Laptop disconnectng from wireless?
I have a Toshiba Satellite S75Dt-A7330. I've only had it since just before Christmas, but in the past week, it's developed a problem. I keep getting disconnected from my home network. I can usually connect again, but a few minutes or seconds later, I'll get kicked out again. This can go on for quite some time. However, it doesn't always happen. There are times when I can stay on for hours, and nothing happens. It doesn't seem to happen at the same times, either, so I don't think it's a usage problem.
I have another laptop and a desktop in my home. They're not having any problems.
I can also take my laptop to my campus, where it connects just fine.
If anyone knows how to fix this or can even just name the problem, please give me the idiot's version. I'm not even remotely tech savvy.

Have you installed the driver for Wireless??
If no, install that or else reinstall it.
Or else put to safe mode and reinstall the driver software.

Well, venus_smrf, you passed my first test: You put usuable info into a question that I can understand. And you can spell 'savvy'. It's quite refreshing, actually.
Ok. I have to ask: (but you just think the answers to yourself, no need to post. Just try find any commonalities.)
1. What are you doing just before the connection dies? When you get a long connect time, are you doing something different from those times when you're kicked off? (Looking for common apps you're running at the time of a failure.)
2. When you get reconnected, do you go right back to doing whatever you were doing *before* the connection died? Does it die again? (Seeing if you can reproduce the failure)
3. How far from your Wi-Fi router are you normally? Have you tried (for testing purposes) being just 20 or 30 ft. away from it, while being in the same room? (Seeing if distance to router is an issue.)
4. How long was your laptop turned on before it was disco'd? Does it work better when you first turn it on and then it gets kicked off 30 mins/ hour later? (Seeing if there's a heat-related issue)
Suggestions:
1. Since you didn't mention doing it -- let's try powering off your router, waiting 15 secs, and powering it back on. Sounds silly, but sometimes just giving the router an 'enema' makes things a little better.
2. If you haven't done it in a while, reboot your laptop, too.
3. For testing purposes, don't put your laptop to sleep. So, don't fold/shut it (if you can help it); and change your settings to just use the screensaver -- not go to sleep or shutdown.
4. There are 11 "Wi-Fi channels" that a home router can use. If there are several Wi-Fi routers using the same channel near each other, they can interfere with each other and cause disconnections. I use my android phone w/an app from Amped Wireless that can see the Wi-Fi signals near me and tells me which channel each is using. Then I can tell my Wi-Fi router to use a different, unused channel.
The problem is, I don't know an easy way to talk a non-techie through the steps. So, if you know how, try changing the channel your router is using.
