What is the Jewish attitude towards their people entering the field of Mathematics?

I know a lot of them enter the fields of Medicine, Law, and Business, but what would Jewish parents make of their children wanting to be Mathematicians? I know that they as a people hold a high regard for mathematical pursuits, as a lot of people who were notable mathematicians were Jews, but what does the archetypal jewish parent make of their child wanting to be a Mathematician?
