Why is the visible host of the Australian Open Tennis Championship always a citizen of the USA?
Has Australia nobody that is as 'good' as, e.g., T.Trabert or J. Courier?
Australia, my country, is quickly becoming quite angry with American corporations. CocaCola, perhaps the most greedy and combative, sued a state government (that we elected to make laws for us) because it passed legislation involving drink cans, legislation that this disgusting corporation didn't like. It won.
Now, if what I read here is correct, it has taken over our national tournament. Strutting yanks patronising players is NOT a good look, perhaps?
Dear Mr Gawd. The person in charge of the TV coverage is an Australian, a Mr Rupert Murdoch. He now lives in the USA where he presides over Fox News, etc. I believe that Yahoo is part of his empire as well. Why would he go out of his way to deprive Australia of ownership of its tournament?

It is all about the television / media money . . . in general, the American television buys the right to chose whomever they want . . . at least they have selected Australian Open Champions . . .
