Have an older model - have limited computer skills - need some clear directions on what to do - unable to access my Yahoo E-mail account on safari - but can get on in my Google server.

Whatever you do avoid garbage like CleanMyMac and MacKeeper and anything else that promises some magical solution to some undefined problem.

What do you mean by "clearing or cleaning it out"? If you just want a fresh start you can erase the hard drive and reinstall OS X. Do you have an OS X installation disc?

    "an older model "

Tell us exactly what it is. A "Mac Pro" is a tower box that sits on the floor.–> http://www.flickr.com/photos/squidly/439285708/in/...

If you don't have a Mac Pro, it must be a notebook. For that, look here–> http://www.flickr.com/photos/36589940@N04/92971003...

Top menu bar, Apple logo > About This Mac

Can you tell us the OS version?

Top menu bar, Apple logo > About This Mac > More Info (Opens System Profiler). Look for "Model Identifier".

That model identifier tells us exactly which computer you bought.

When you can't log-in to Yahoo Mail, click the link that says "I CAN'T ACCESS MY ACCOUNT".

As for those cleaning apps, they sometimes clean out the wrong thing. All your stuff is in your home folder. Take an hour to look through it yourself if you suspect you have documents that are not needed. A cleaner app has no idea what you value. iTunes can find duplicate songs based on metadata, even if the title is different. Try Duplicate Cleaner Lite or DupeGuru, links below. They both let you decide after seeing a list of duplicate pairs. There are no digital dust bunnies lurking in the computer, so removing duplicates is the main objective.

Log files can be removed manually or by using OnyX, free, link below. A log file can be useful for viewing activity, but for most people, it is geek-overload, so deleting log files can save some space... temporarily.

(For a "fresh start", I do not suggest erasing the startup drive. You only need to create a new admin user account, log out, log in as the new user, and delete the original user account. That rids the computer of every trace of you.)
