Can I renew my passport in person?

My passport is about to expire in 3 months. I'm not planning to travel anytime soon but I would like to renew my passport. Even though my passport is in good condition, I rather not do it by mail, even though it's recommended. I live in the Boston, Ma area. Can I go to my local post office and renew my passport there?

The post office would simply take your renewal form and old passport and mail them in to the Regional Passport Agency. the post office does NOT ever actually make the passport...they just send them to the right place to be made, then they are mailed back top you. There is no way to get around that.

You NEVER get a passport the same day you apply for one. Not even if you went to Boston and walked into the office.

You apply for renewal in person at the post office. They submit the information for you and the new passport comes through the mail. Now is a good time to do it if it expires in three months.
