Would you classify me as "emo"?

Um emo doesn't mean emotionally unstable. Nor do u have to cut urself to be emo. Emo doesn't mean u sit around cutting urself. Emo is/was a genre of music and that didn't stand for emotionally unstable either.

I wouldn't classify you as anything and you shouldn't look to fit stereotypes. 'Emo' as you think of it is a thing people who really wanted attention made up. However, 'emo' music just means emotional. It is "classified as melodic music with expressive, often confessional lyrics". There is nothing wrong with listening to hard rock or anything of the sort. I've loved MCR since I was 8 or 9 years old ('05-'06 when they were just leaving the revenge era and entering the parade era). My Chem is very expressive, but each of those albums tell the band's story. There's a great picture I found online a while back that described each of the albums as: It's okay to be scared (Bullets), it's okay to be angry (Revenge), it's okay to be hurting (Parade) and it's okay to grow up (Danger Days). I've lived through that for a long time and I think My Chemical Romance is not at all an emo band, but they are extremely real.

To be honest I dislike the term "emo". Not once have I looked up the definition for it. It is a short wording for emotional.

People do go stereotype and with features you define yourself with, they would base upon reading or seeing put you as this "emo" group. I do not know what "emo" means but if if I saw someone who dresses dark or have the hair related to "emo" then may them be, but I think the ones who are really emotional would classify themselves as a loner or something along the line.[Not putting a label on it.]

For I: I have had purple hair, I have a lip ring, I do self-harm for my mental disorder coming across, and I like bands like ThreeDaysGrace[because their music is rather emotional generalizing to help or feelings] rather those hard core music with screams. Though I may not look "emo" cause I do not have the looks or ways they act [but I do not nor would I say I am emo, cause when emo is used they think of these dark people,chains, hair covering face..rather the one who has their hair up and regular t-shirts but hides their harm in secret.]

I hate putting a label on peoole to describe them, 'cause once a label is out they think you have to look to fit that part.]

We are individuals but if you feel like you have departed from groups may say outcast, if into the "gothic" ways and express your way then you are gothic..though they tend to put eyeliner, slik or spiking hair, chains..?

But you have these different groups and they do exist.

No - you say you listen to hard rock?

Emos listen to emotive hardcore, the real ones, anyway.

Emo is not about fashion, depression or self harm or being a loner.
