What should I do in this situation?

My fiance and I got engaged this month and are planning our wedding. The tentative date will be june 2015. We are having a budget wedding since we are paying for it.

My fiance's father told him that if we pushed the wedding back to 2017 he would pay for the whole thing ($10,000 is his dollar amount). My fiance told his dad no we don't want to push it back but now he (my fiance) is seriously considering it.

I don't want to get married in 2017. I'm 24 and my fiance is 23. What should I do?

I believe that we could pay for the wedding without the help of his father. My fiance believed this too but now that he has been giving this information from his dad he doesn't think we can finance it ourselves.

Update:

This is stressing me out and we have only been engaged for two weeks.

This is YOUR wedding. You and your fiancee decide what to do, noone else.Talk to your fiancee and let him know you want to get married when YOU want, not when his father wants. If you think you can afford the wedding before 2017 and thats what you want, then thats what you do!Just talk to your fiancee first, as wedding planning is stressful enough, you need perfect communication skills during this time :)

    Good Luck!
