Why is it bad if government is spying on us?
There are questions about the NSA and Snowden from both left and right, but not one word about the way corporations spy on us all the time. If it is acceptable for Target to gather data and the power companies to install meters that can read our actions in real time why is it wrong for the government to do it?
I can't see a difference. Spying is spying, isn't it?
I cannot see a difference between what NSA does and the deliberate installation of zigbee chips on all of our appliances so that the utilities can collect data about our habits that they will then exchange and sell to each other. Both seem to be equivalent invasions of privacy.
Back to the question: WHY is it bad when government does it, but not when the private sector does?

No, little boy, it is not. Trying to determine what products and services you want or need is a legitimate tool of business - but your private communications with your bank, your doctor, your lawyer, your wife, your children's teacher and your pastor are certainly none of their business, and especially none of the government's business. And by f*cking God, if I want to speak to an old acquaintance back in Berlin by phone, fax or e-mail, that is also none of the NSA's f*cking business! Unless they have ironclad proof that there's reason to suspect he and I are up to no good, they can just f*ck off!

Good grief **** you too!
Our 4th and 9th amendment protect that right, but know one seems to care
Especially when our own president whose job is to protect the constitution wants to take away our second amendment.
4th search and seizure, since they're searching everything computers, phones, and even yahoo answers.
9th amendment (uninumerated)protects privacy so no one can spy on us.
Our president seems to think everyone is a terrorist especially right-wing patriots and again he won't support our constitution.
