Any recent converts from Democrat to Republican?
Just curious if the Republican idea that people "grow into" the GOP is still true.
"“Show me a young Conservative and I'll show you someone with no heart. Show me an old Liberal and I'll show you someone with no brains.”
― Winston Churchill
Maybe in the 1940's. I don't think that is true anymore.
16 AnswersElections7 years agowhere is all the inflation that Conservatives warned us about with Obama as President?
Anyone with some actual numbers?
6 AnswersGovernment7 years agoIf scientists are motivated by money, wouldn't they make more saying global warming was fake?
Who do you think pays more...government grants for science or special interest groups?
Scientists seeking the truth would take the govt grant money instead of peddling the position of a special interest group.
2 AnswersOther - Politics & Government7 years agoWhy didn't O'Reilly hammer Obama with hard evidence of corruption in his administration?
Republicans keep thinking they will get to their "truth" if they hear from just one more person...so far, they've come up empty. Why do they hold Obama accountable for not admitting to their speculation?
5 AnswersGovernment7 years agoWhy do Republicans think the "free market" will save us from higher health care costs?
When you live in a town with one hospital and the doctor says you need a medication to save your life, where does the free market give you choices? Where is your freedom not to do business with them?
Dr Ben Carson has a commercial on TV advocating for government to get out of the way. But comparing our system to other countries, governments seem to be the only way to effectively lower costs by negotiating better deals with health care providers (granted, it's probably take it or leave it negotiating)
12 AnswersPolitics7 years agoWhat groups of people are Conservatives more tolerant of?
11 AnswersCivic Participation7 years agoIf both parties agree to raising the debt ceiling, what is there to negotiate?
Neither party wants a government shutdown, so both sides agree.
Why do Republicans say Democrats need to compromise on that?
7 AnswersPolitics8 years agoWhy does anyone need to compromise on a bill that everyone agrees needs to pass and wants to pass?
Isn't that when negotiations stop...when both sides agree to something?
Nobody is denying the debt ceiling needs to be raised. The bill to raise it is complete and fair.
Republicans are taking a deal that is fair, and adding "and I'm going to need your sister for a night, and if you disagree, I'm putting our failure to pass a fair deal on you"
3 AnswersGovernment8 years agoShould Democrats take concerns about Republicans lies about ACA seriously?
If most of people's concerns about Obamacare are founded on lies, is it Democrat's job to share their concern?
4 AnswersGovernment8 years agoIs it time to abolish the debt ceiling?
All laws and budgets that contribute to the debt are already determined by Congress. Why put a pointless valve on top of that?
2 AnswersCivic Participation8 years agoIs believing in God a gateway to denial for Republicans?
6 AnswersCivic Participation8 years agoWho is to blame for America's ignorance of Obamacare?
http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2013/10/...
"So you disagree with Obamacare?"
"Yes, I do."
"Do you think insurance companies should be able to exclude people with preexisting conditions?"
"No."
"Do you agree that young people should be able to stay on their parents' plans until they're 26?"
"They should be able to, yes."
"Do you agree that companies with 50 or more employees should provide healthcare?"
"I do."
"And so, by that logic, you would be for the Affordable Care Act?"
"Yes."
3 AnswersCivic Participation8 years agoWhy do Conservatives repeat the same lies like "Congress exempted themselves from ACA" over and over?
...even though the truth is explained to them every time?
Is it a psychological disorder?
Are they just trolls?
Is it willful ignorance?
3 AnswersCivic Participation8 years agoWhy are Republicans worried about Deductibiles if they never get sick and don't need insurance?
That's why they dislike the mandate right - because they don't need so stinkin health insurance?
I wonder which right winger was on the radio telling them how laughable the plans were. They seem to be forgetting that having insurance with any deductible is better than no insurance.
3 AnswersCivic Participation8 years agoWhat will a 10% drop in the stock market cost the economy because of the debt ceiling debate vs. Obamacare?
In August 2011, the debt ceiling debate "contributed to an approximate US$2.5 trillion erased from global equity value" in one day alone.
Funding the government seems like a lot cheaper option, Obamacare or not.
2 AnswersGovernment8 years agoDoes the US govt spends more on health care than Canada's govt?
And most of us don't get anything for it?

Prices go down with a government or insurance company has enough buying power to leverage for lower rates.
2 AnswersElections8 years agoWhy do poor Republicans claim they are being held back by high taxes?
And then complain that the poor aren't pay enough taxes
(psst, many are among the 47% that don't pay a federal income tax)
6 AnswersGovernment8 years agoAre there any other Democratic contenders for 2016 besides Hillary?
I worry she might be too far in her years and may have health problems.
