If scientists are motivated by money, wouldn't they make more saying global warming was fake?

Who do you think pays more...government grants for science or special interest groups?

Scientists seeking the truth would take the govt grant money instead of peddling the position of a special interest group.

You make a good point. Private industry pays much better than the government.

It's ironic that conservatives believe 98% of climatologists get checks from Al Gore in exchange for faking data, yet they ignore the billions spent by big oil on climate denial science.

  • That doesn't make sense. They say its real, that way they get more grants to study the problem to try to come to a solution. If you say its fake, and if that is the belief..then grants dry up. Although private business has everything to gain by promoting new energy solutions. We don't even burn coal nearly as much in the u.s. compared to what we did 40 years ago, and we knew 40 years ago that populations were increasing and use of fossil fuels would as well. By those facts alone, we are very slow to act to squelch the use of fossils fuels and move into a more advanced solar energy technology for all energy consumption. But don't believe it for a second that we won't continue to use those fuels that we are told are polluting the planet. The power company doesn't necessarily want the price to go down for energy they supply. They also want to stay in the power business as its really profitable, but they are also smart enough to use government as a way to pay to force people to use the new technology.
