Every car you add to the policy adds to the cost of the policy. The insurance company is guaranteeing they will repair/replace more dollars in automobiles, that's going to cost you more. They don't just insure more out of the goodness of their hearts. They're taking a bigger risk, you pay for that risk.

I was just added to my family's car insurance policy, and was just browsing used cars. If I were to give the person in the policy enough money to buy a car, would it cost them anything extra to put that car on their insurance? They have two vehicles on the insurance currently.

Update: Not sure what the policy contains, but the car is possibly a used Chrysler 300m from 2000. It's in decent shape, not too high mileage, etc etc.

Update 2: about how much would this cost extra? based on people's experiences?

Each car must have its own policy. To know what insuring another car might cost requires that you ask the insurance company. Nobody here can possibly know. There are way too many variables.

Almost certainly. I have liability only. And the cost to put an extra car on my policy was doubte.
