Need ice fishing tips?
Been ice fishing all week since it's cold enough finally. I haven't got a single bite. I was just wondering maybe what the best bait is to use and how to use it, and how to locate fish. My target species are bluegills and crappies. Thanks.

If you have a camera or electronics or look down the hole. If you can find weeds in 8-10 feet of water chances thats where your bluegill are at. For bait try wax worms of berkley gulp maggotts or 1 inch minnows. Use a real small jig and a spring bobber or the smallest bobber you can get away with.
For crappie they tend to hang out in deeper water, with weeds as well. I have caught them in as little as 5 ft but not the norm. Try using small minnows and a jig or gulp minnows.

first, get some small circle hooks, #8 or #10 and never set the hook with them, the fish hooks itself. for bait, I always found worms worked fine, I've used minnows too with success, but still prefer worms. you also might not be going to the right places on the lake, in the winter fish prefer deeper water than in the summer, get away from the shores.
