Cheapest place to visit..?
Hi everyone,
I am looking to visit Germany in May time with my 3 year old son and was wondering what was the cheapest place to visit ?
Also, it may not be the cheapest, but where is the best place to visit with a 3 year old ?
I have been looking at Cologne, is it nice there, child friendly etc ?
Any helpful advice would be great.
Thank you in advance :)

Hi Sarah,
check out the city of Kiel in Northern Germany, located about 60 miles north of Hamburg on the Baltic Sea. Population is about 245,000, very nice city, child friendly, lots of things to do and to see, largest pedestrian shopping zone in all of Germany, largest sailing event in the world every last year of June. It is called the gateway to Scandinavia.

Germany is not cheap as such. To say which place is the cheapest is also hard, but in general the bigger cities are a bit more expensive though it depends on your choices. Eg. the cheapest Döner Kebab I found was in Düsseldorf, which is supposed to be rather expensive.
Cologne is one of the biggest cities in Germany, but it's probably OK for you. It also has the "biggest pedestrian shopping zone" (the Schildergasse) of Germany. There is also one of the biggest amusement parks near Cologne: Phantasialand. I don't know whether that is really something for a 3-year-old, though.
Anyway, you should really think of something you are interested in & then make an informed decision where to go. "The cheapest" won't help you much.
