how do I fix windows 7 on my dell laptop after replacing a busted hard drive without a disc? and right HD?

I have a dell insperon N4030. I knocked it off the table and busted the hard drive in it so I ordered a new one from Ebay , when it came it said Toshiba on the back QUESTION #1 Will it work? It does fit and plug in ok.

We moved about a year ago and I recently found the driver recovery disc for it ( about two weeks BEFORE I busted the hard drive) I asked my husband to put it in a safe place . He lost it. QUESTION #2 Is there somewhere I can download it from a different computer onto a thumb drive or burn it to cd?

The computer wont load windows so I cant go on line with it.

There were until recently download sites where you could get a copy of installation iso files and burn to a USB or DVD,and use your product key underneath the laptop to vaildate the install. Unfortunately a check reveals these are now dead link. The simplest solution would be to contact dell for some recovery disks, which should only cost a nominal sum as you have already paid for a windows license

    Call dell support

    http://www.dell.com/support/contents/uk/en/ukdhs1/...

where you should be able to order some disks. Or maybe you should get your husband to do this for being such an idiot

    you really need that disc

hdd should be fine if its the same plug ie... sata for sata or ide for ide

do you have the window coa sticker on the back?

if so you could download the correct version of windows and use the coa to authorise it
