ax+x=y (Get X alone?)?

Hi, does anyone know what ax+x=y (To get X alone) is? I'm just a little confused. And if you could, could you show how you got that answer? Thank you!!

    y = ax + x

    1. y = x(a + 1) --> You find a common factor "x" and take it out.

    2. y / a + 1 = x(a + 1) / a + 1 --> Divide by "a + 1" on both sides. On the right side a + 1 will be cancelled.

    3. y / a + 1 = x --> As "a +1" got cancelled on the right side, "x" stays alone.

    4. x = y / a + 1 --> This is your final equation.

    ax + x = y

    x(a + 1) = y

    x = y/(a + 1).

    There you go.

    Don't worry about where the 1 comes from in the second line, that's just there because x and 1x is exactly the same thing, so you can remove 'x' and leave the '1' in its place. A bit like rewriting the original question as ax + 1x = y, adding in the 1 makes no difference at all to the equation nor the solution but gives you something to leave in place when you remove the 'x' to the outside of the brackets.

    y=(ax+x)

    y=x(a+1)

    x=y/(a+1)

    First off your question isn't even in the right catagory. This is homeschooling and your question has nothing to do with it and if you're confused you should ask your teacher not the internet.
