atheists: are you willing to debate with those who hold(in your eyes) ridiculous views?

I have always enjoyed a good debate with anyone that is knowledgeable about the subject we are debating. The key however is to debate, not argue.. and I have rarely found people that respect the difference.

Debate implies presentation and evaluation of arguments. Theism is purely faith based and has no supporting evidence or argument. So what is the point? Also, most theists are utterly close-minded so nothing is going to be achieved. The very act of debate can be seen to grand a sort of status to creationism it simply does not merit.

I'm terrible at debates, so no. If I were better at it, I would be open to a friendly debate now and again but I suck so I try to avoid them.

Generally in debate, one brings his point and evidence to the table.

Since one side cannot produce evidence of its claims, it is not a debate. It becomes a presentation of evidence against assertions; the belief in the assertions is not changed because it is not based in evidence.

No I am not. Debating religion is utterly pointless and about as annoying as debating politics.

You can only debate nonsense with idiots for so long until you realize that you're just wasting your time.

If you want to debate you need arguments

Yes I love a good fight in the verbal sense of the word. Yes 9/11 was executed by Muslims, but who prompted them to do it?

Debates never get us anywhere and it only brings out the worst in each other.

Sadly both sides have many closed minded idiots. There's no point in challenging them to debates.
