atheists: why do people deny that 9/11 was done by islamists?

is it because they do not want people to be blaming islam for such an atrocity? is it because they cant imagine arab men being able to carry out such an attack? is it because they want to see the west as bad and the islamic world as good?

Because they don't want to believe it's so easy for people to cause damage. They want to believe that it takes something as powerful as the US government to carry out an attack like that.

You have one persistent and ludicrous persecution complex.

I don't see what this question has to do with Atheists.

The reason why people invent and believe conspiracy theories about 9/11 has little if anything to do with any of the explanations you describe.

A conspiracy theory is a logical fallacy, a conjecture that is backed up by weak evidence or none at all. The intent is to use it as an attack paradigm for the purpose of damaging the person or group that are said to be the motive force for the CT, with little regard being placed on the factuality or accuracy of the core material.

Conspiracy theorists are not skeptics or researchers. They actively ignore evidence contrary to their pre-conceived notions and swallow nonsense with hardly any reflection at all so long as it conforms to existing bias and belief. An official, substantiated analysis or report from "the powers that be" can't be trusted, but some poorly-designed website that speaks to their biases will be taken as gospel.

CT are more a faith based movement than anything else. They are agenda-driven. "FDR was evil, how can I prove this?" We've seen that system used by other folks who don't buy into reality as well.

Because the conspiracy theory presented by the government does not hold water. Scientifically, it is fact that the buildings were demolished by much more than planes. At the Pentagon there was no plane wreckage, nor was the hole big enough for a plane.. Also box knives? You have to be awful close to someone to hold them with a box knife, and there are many ways to fight off someone with a box knife. I worked with razor knives for many years at a plastics factory. They are not an efficient way to hijack a plane.

Why did you address this question to atheists?

Why not address it to Muslims instead?

It would be true to say that many conspiracy theorists live in their own little world and can be atheist or any religion for that matter. Unfortunately they were suckered in by the Islamic lies, but that's not collectively atheist's fault.

People are too scared to criticise Islam.

And some people like Jerry Falwell are just stupid and blame 9/11 on gays.

Because they plan it themselves to invade wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

You see what mess they have done to the world, they create an Arab guy name Usama Bin Laden, as an actor, let him play his role and no body has ever seen his real face, even the day he die nobody ever seen his corpse then they said they throw him in the sea.

Oh what a nasty world that we are living among the satan.

I am assuming that Athiest is the one asking the question, since it is followed by a colon. I am not an atheist myself though I have explored it in depth.

You ask: is it because they do not want people to be blaming islam for such an atrocity? is it because they cant imagine arab men being able to carry out such an attack? is it because they want to see the west as bad and the islamic world as good?

In my opinion, you are partially right but mostly wrong. Yes they do not want people blaming Islam for such an atrocity and the truth is, Islam had nothing to do with it. It was someone's distorted view of Islam and it was done by people claiming to be Muslim. I say claiming to be, because if you read their book cover to cover, you easily recognize that these men and their beliefs do not represent the Quran, Islam or most Most Muslim people in general.

Just as when the priests were raping the alter boys, they didn't spin it as Christians are molesting children. Priests are Christians. They were molesting children. But to announce Christians are raping children would label Christianity as sanctioning it, even though... (don't get me started on the cover ups there). But the point is the same. Muslim Extremists (which personally I would label as Misled Muslims (and in their book it warns of this in the story of the first nation and the second nation and which should get more punishment, those who did the misleading or those who were misled. It's a great story. The ones who were misled tried to get God to dole out double punishment on those who misled them, but God gave double to the misled ones, for allowing themselves to be misled when they are in possession of the book and the truth. The first nation who did the misleading was ignorant, the second nation who was misled, knew better.

Just as Catholics and Christians alike should never silently allow a child to be molested ever. Muslims need to be aware and speak up and ban together to prevent extremism and to prevent young Muslims from being misled.

I have quite exensively researched Bin Laden as well as Hitler. Both of them started out with a pretty pure heart and altruistic hopes, then just like in life, temptation crawls in to lead people astray and Hitler and Bin Laden both wound up on the wrong path both still believing they were doing what they were for noble reasons. It is sad, when such horrific things taint or tarnish a whole group of people or section of society who not only had nothing to do with it, but do not even share the same beliefs as those who committed such horrific acts.

God created us all (unless your view differs which is fine), and then when people's view of God or his desires becomes distorted, horrific things happen, and it's basically like a cancer, if it is not nipped in the bud, it can easily spread.

If you know a good Muslim, support their mosque

If you know a good Christian, support their church

If you know a good Jew, support their synogogue

If you know a good Atheist, they were probably raised by people who believe in God...lol

Just kidding, if you know a good Atheist, buy them a cup of coffee and enjoy the conversation.

The only ones that I can think of that deny that is people who believe the conspiracy theories that it was done by the US government.
