atheists: why do you think assisted suicide should be legal?
i am against it mainly on the grounds that people could be using it to kill their burdonsome relatives. i would rather see people suffer for a long period of time than to see folks killing off their burdonsome relatives with ease.

Not an atheist but what you're saying sounds very cruel. Unless you've been in that situation of long suffering - you can't expect others to just suffer, hence what you just said I would rather see people suffering for a long time Than to see folks killing off their burdensome relatives.
If people love their relatives they are not burdensome.
Show some empathy for those that suffer

Assisted suicide would have to come from the person who wants to kill themselves. If the family killed their relative that would be murder.
I support it because we have a right to our own bodies, we should be allowed to surrender our life if we want although I think people who are suicidal and are in healthy bodies should get the help they need as they do now

As much as I may disagree with suicide, I don't see why anyone who has made the decision to end their life should be forced to continue living.

For those seeking help with ending their life, it should be legal.

Imagion that you are in unbearable pain everyday, you can't use your limbs and you are completely dependant on others. I think someone in that situation has the right to die.
