Is it ok to tackle someone running from the police?
So the other day a guy ran right by me with a bunch of cops chasing him that couldn't keep up, I decided to step aside and let them keep going about their business.
If I were to have tackled him would I have gotten in trouble or what would happen?
Thanks!

your injuries from that would have been your own. on the other hand, depending on jurisdiction, the helpful bystander law may have shielded you from any lawsuit if you had taken him down.
not to worry -- the police use radio to get someone ahead of him so he's not likely to get away

The police would probably be appreciative, but the perpetrator could sue you for something. The police usually suggest the public stay out of harms way.

That would depend on whether he got hurt, whether he went to jail, and whether he had deep pockets.
