Why are mobile games so popular if they suck?

I'd say there's a few things going for them,

- Some people do enjoy simple repetitive gameplay. A game doesn't necessarily have to have much depth, to pass the time.

- Because the game can be played in short bursts, it's good for bus journeys, waiting in a queue, sitting on the toilet, etc.

- They're played on a device that people already have and use for other reasons, rather than a specialised gaming console. By that I mean someone might not want to buy, or carry around a 3DS, but if they already have a smartphone for browsing on the go, why not have a game or two on it.

Yes, the games are very primitive by the standards of a 3DS or Vita gamer but clearly there's lots of appeal to a more casual crowd who just want something to pass the time.

Because mostly everyone will get a cell phone in their life, people might not be into handheld gaming like the 3ds and the ps vita. And most of all the reason why people still play them..They're mobile! That's pretty much it, easier to carry around a phone with free app games than to hope you can save a couple hundred dollars for a handheld game system and 40+ more dollars for the games you want. When you'll only use them for travel most likely if your that kind of person. Don't get me wrong, I have a 3DS and I love it. It's just not some people's piece of cake.

Cheap and convenient. They're generally aimed towards casual play to use up a little time.

dude dont compare mob games with consoles(like xbox or ps4,3,2,1)....if u think that mob games are expensive and they take money,then there are many websites now that can give u free games..eg

there are many games for mobiles that are too much fun..(but u must have a good mobile or tablet)
