If being gay is such a problem, then why did God make it impossible to change ?

“SORRY! But that’s the way I am and I can’t change. You’ll just have to make the best of it!” Expressions such as these have been made time and again by one member of a family to another as an excuse or in justification of displaying certain personality traits that irk, or may even severely try, others.

In particular is this likely to be the mental attitude of those addicted to alcohol or who follow a homosexual way of life.

is it really so that personalities cannot be changed? The Bible indicates that they can be.

the God of the Bible, is considerate of mankind’s weaknesses. He is a God of love. So he does not cast aside as totally irredeemable any person as long as that individual strives diligently to conform to His will.

The Scriptures show that the homosexual, to gain God’s approval, must make a change. But the Bible also reveals that such a change is possible.

The apostle Paul refers to some persons who had been homosexuals and then says, in 1 Corinthians 6:11: “And yet that is what some of you were. But you have been washed clean.” They had changed!

the bulk of available information agrees with the Bible: Homosexuals CAN change. Nothing but the person himself forces an individual to remain homosexual.

It is not impossible to change one's behavior. You can comport yourself according to expected behavior.

It is said that an alcoholic will always be an alcoholic, and yet many successfully live a life of sobriety.

Drugs are bad. Sin is bad. Don't do drugs even if you still crave them. Don't sin, even if you still want to.

AA works because the comraderie or fellowship has more of a draw than the booze. People learn to feel ashamed of their desire for a drink. If you want to quit sin, you have to use the same process. It's not impossible. It's just very hard. Jesus never said it would be easy.

Hi:) In God's eyes you aren't gay - you're His child, and He knew you before you were born. He predestined you to be holy and blameless in His sight. It's because God wanted you that you were born. Since He created you, who He says you are is the truth about you. Feelings and senses and the way people label us can deceive us, and Satan can use our acceptance of those feelings and words to build strongholds, even from when we are young children.

The other day I banged my head really hard on a thick tree branch on a bush walk and felt off-balance afterwards...but eventually felt better...then when I got home I got a painful throbbing headache (I don't normally get headaches)..I started to feel fear creeping in, wondering if I'd damaged my brain or something lol! But I felt like the voice of truth (Holy Spirit) said the headache and fear was just a lie, and that if I accepted it, I'd be giving it the right to harm me. So understanding this, I lifted up my hands to Father God and thanked Him that I belong to Him and that nothing can do me permanent harm...and immediately the throbbing pain left!

Jesus has already paid the price for us to have every thing He has...We just need to see it and thank Him for it in faith until we become it. The bible says that if we pray with doubt we can't expect to receive anything from the Lord. So I wanna encourage you to see your identity in Christ - In Him you have right-standing with God, you are pure and innocent, you have the mind of Christ. In the secret place with God you can put off lust, pride, anger, selfishness and anything else you don't see in Jesus, and you can clothe yourself with Christ, with pure love, compassion, peace, joy. And your faith will release His grace to transform you by God's power rather than your effort.

God bless you man of God - He truly loves you and still sees you for your destiny, made in His image and likeness, not condemning you for your sins and weaknesses. He wants you to know His great love for you and to grow you up in Christ until you're filled with all the fullness of God.

Some of us are born with to much of one thing and not enough of something else. The imperfections we have to deal with is Adam's fault not God's. Adam being the life giver of every human being passed on imperfection and death to us all.

If we have the propensity to rob banks, and we carry out the desire to do so we will be held accountable because it is against man's law. Being gay is against God's law and acting on the desire is wrong according to him because it was not his purpose for mankind. 1Corinthians 6:9 says: Or do you not know that unrighteous people will not inherit God's Kingdom? Do not be mislead. Those who are sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, men who submit to homosexual acts, men who practice homosexuality.

By the way Ewan, you can read lots of articles and I mean LOTS by scientists and religious experts who have finally concluded the story of the Exodus NEVER HAPPENED.... so bad to use them as a model.

I was going to give a serious and heart felt answer to a young man going through inner turmoil about his sexual identity until I read what the assembly of clowns had written here.

Ewan, repost your question in another section of Yahoo Answers and I will give you a better answer that may help you. There's nothing here that will help.

You may be gay but just don't practice homosexuality. Remember our hearts are so deceitful and vulnerable. Just listen to God not people. How will the Holy Spirit enters a person who is practicing homosexuality or other sins?

you only do what you really truly want to do , you know - lead a horse to water and all that

ask yourself , Did you think it ? or did you give glory God for giving you life , thank Him for His blessings , and hand it over to Him , in accordance with scripture ? trusted Him to guide you to redemption - I'm not saying you didnt , but it has changed millions of peoples lives , because it says in His word , He is faithful , but were you ? maybe you were you just paying lip service .

God still loves you. I personally do not agree with homosexuality, however all sin no matter what it is, is against God's original design for man. That what sin is. No man/women, boy/girl is exempt from this the curse of sin. From the time man was given choice to sin, man wanted to do something he thought would be better by making his own choice.

When one looks at the cross God paid for the sin of man, why because He created us with choices, and it is our nature to make choices whether in obedience or disobedience from the dawn of time. There were people in the Bible called eunuchs, Either castrated themselves, castrated by government or born that way. Did God exempt them from love, no, but immorality is against the original design of man to have one woman or partner.

Here my point if you received Christ then you need to consider His ability to change you if you need to be changed and not work so hard to change yourself, unless it breaking the law of humanity. It does not make homosexuality less a sin, neither does it make gossip less a sin. Read Romans 1: starting around verse 19 til the end of the chapter maybe this will help you.

Two things could occur if you allow Christ to change you. Your love for the same sex could change from sexuality to purer form of love. Nothing wrong with good friendship of same sex or opposite sex. You might find a pure form of love and the second thing you might find yourself reaching others for Christ like yourself in the situation you currently in as far as homosexuality goes.

Don't give up God because of your imperfection, God did not give up the imperfection of the world, and he did not give up on me, and i was rebellious at one point to God's will in my life. So if homosexuality is wrong to God let him in His power do the work. You know scripture on this subject, I suggest you study in context and ask yourself if it is for a reason God is against it. Is their health issues or physical reason God is against it.

It's only a problem for churches and the misinformed people in them. The Bible itself, and church tradition, is quite clear - it is male gay sex that is a sin. Actually this is largely because the writers of the Bible didn't know what being gay is, so they didn't condemn it, and the Bible says nothing about lesbians at all - again probably because the writers had never heard of lesbianism.

Treat religion as a human construct and it all makes sense.
