My tennis coach is trying to make my life all tennis?
So basically this year I didn't try out for the basketball team because my coach was making me focus on tennis and was getting pissed off i was always playing basketball. Now he keeps telling me to come basically every day plus on some days 2 times and is acting as if i have no social life. I had plans for friday night and now i have to go play tennis. And if i turn him down hell get pissed off. So that is not an option. How do I get him to understand that I have a social life and I have no aspirations to go pro. And don't get me wrong I love both sports but this is just annoying me to the point that I don't even want to go right now.

I'm in a situation where a lot of my life is swimming (I am supposed to practice 7 days a week, at least 2 hours a practice), and my coach expects me to come to all practices. So, I think I understand what it means to be doing one sport all the time. Personally, I still manage to play soccer and keep up with school, though I don't really go anywhere with friends or anything usually but I still do have a social life as I have a huge amount of friends. So it is possible to organize your life while still concentrating on a specific sport, but I don't know how old you are or how talented you are at tennis, I mean if your coach thinks you could be playing in grand slams when you're older, then personally I would go for it, though whether this is the case or not, you shouldn't unless you're really passionate about the sport. If you like playing basketball as well, this is fine, play basketball, I'm guessing you're in high school so you will have plenty of opportunity to switch sports or play both, like I said I do a huge amount of swim practices and still fit in soccer. If your coach can't understand you're not super serious about playing tennis, then you probably should look for a new coach, one who tries to help you succeed, but is possibly more understanding about the other aspects of your life. The most important thing in this is what you want, if you want to play tennis every day of the week, then fine, do it and aim to become a professional, but if you want to fit in some basketball as well, and do things with friends, then do that as well, you don't have to let your coach make decisions for you. Hope this helps!

Whatever you do, don't buy anything related to Tennis. I used to work at a Country Club with a lot of Tennis Coaches and whenever they received gifts, they would always make jokes about the gifts related to tennis. They always seemed to enjoy bottles of wine or gift baskets with wine and cheeses.
