Which is the best deal: 3 used EVGA 9800 GT 512MB for $35, or 1 used EVGA GTX 460 Superclockd 786MB for $42?

My friend offering me these 2 deals (3 used EVGA 9800 GT 512MB for $35, or 1 used EVGA GTX 460 Superclocked 786MB for $42), but I don't plan on using the video cards I want to make some money on them by reselling them.

I don't know how much these cost (used), can you appraise them?

Can you tell me which deal will get me the most profit?

Update:

They all work. I saw him test them on his rig.

IF you can sell them ( people are a bit leary about stuff that is too cheap, cost wise) you would do better to sell the three for maybe $35 each, therefore recovering your costs by selling one, and the other two would be profit. If you sell them, that is. If not, you break even.

The gtx 460 is probably a more powerful card, but...I would wonder WHY someone was getting rid of it, and for such a low price. A good Gtx 460 would probably sell for more then what he wants for it.

Without testing these cards, there is NO way of knowing if they are even worth what he is selling them for, because a bad card, is worth NOTHING.

Video cards are hard to judge. I had a 8600 GTS that was great, and then I later went to faster card, and gave my 8600 to my son. IT still works good. But I then I later bought a 9400 gt which I thought would be better then the 8600 GTS, but it was not as good performance wise. It was actually worse then the card I had before the 8600 GTS. So numbers can not always be the way to judge things.

I don't know, performance wise, where the 9800 Gt stands, but I think the 460 GTX would out perform it. A lot depends on the memory, 512mb or 1 Gb, and the clock speed, and the DDR, if the DDR is DDR3, it would be less of a performer then one with DDR5. So there is a lot to consider when buying cards.

Me, I would buy the three for $35, try to sell them each for that or more, and if I then only sold one, I would break even.

The 9800GT is just a rebaged 8800GT, they aren't worth much these days. 3 for $35 a decent deal though. You could probably sell each one for $15-$20. The GTX 460 is the low end GTX 460 (there are three variations of that card), and $42 for the 768MB model is frankly a little high. I have a pair of GTX 570's sitting around and I don't plan on getting more than $50-$60 a piece for them. I'll probably just end up giving them away like I did my pair of 8800GT's a few years ago.
