Do you think there is there life on other planets?

Update:

I don't understand how so many educated people on this board can so definitively say that NO....ALIENS ARE NOT VISITING US NOR HAVE THEY EVER?

How do you know? I tend to agree that it is almost a certainty that there is other intelligent life out there. If we had the technology to travel to other planets anywhere in the universe or better yet to monitor them remotely from Earth from tv screens wouldn't we do that? You know as well as I do that we would monitor other planets with intelligent life for a thousand different reasons. So are you saying that no other species out there has the technology to do this? Are you saying that just because there is no "smoking gun" form of evidence in the case for other intelligent life that it is not even possible for it to be happening?

I think it's highly probably that:

(a) there is other intelligent life in the universe;

(b) some of that intelligent life is WAY more technologically advanced than us;

(c) they monitor o

    It's my feeling there is. Given the sheer odds - the number of stars, the number of planets we've found, and how life seems to be *everywhere* on this planet, makes me think it must be out there as well. While I have no proof either way, I believe life exists beyond Earth.

    There is in all probability intelligent life out there just based on the number of stars and planets.

    That some are far more advanced than us , I have no doubt.

    That they are here and observing us is extremely unlikely , faster than light travel as of yet has no theoretical existence beyond generating worm holes which would be must too unstable to use and consume more energy than a single solar system could produce without forcing the star to go Nova.

    If there is intelligent life out there it is highly improbable that it developed as close to home as Alpha Centauri you are talking of distances well beyond 4 light years , more like 1000 they would have to traverse to get here and to discover us at that range would be like looking for a fly speck in a container load of pepper. The signals we are emitting have only been traveling for about 100 years.

    Of course but the same reasons that mathematically assures us that extra-terrestrial life exists also mathematically assures us that they do not and have never visited us even if they were significantly more advanced than us. It would be extremely improbable that aliens had ever visited, we're talking about not one in a trillion but in something like one in a trillion trillion. It would be by sheer luck on the scale beyond plucking up a grain of sand to find it's diamond for them to have visited.

    Okay,

    first of all we think of alien life like 1,000 years ahead of us and your question is if there is other life out there and there might be even though they havent contacted us yet and to think about it what if their species just developed somewhere in deep space think about it why do we always have to think aliens are 1,000 years ahead of us why dont we think maybe their species just got made in deep space maybe their in their version of the medieval ages or their version of our 1,000 B.C years so maybe they are hundreds of years behind us

    personally yes.... i mean, think of it this way: there's a whole universe, filled with soo many planets. And why would earth be the only planet in that whole universe with life on it? i mean whats the point? it wouldn't make sense if a planet was just plain land and nothing else... Well, at least that's my view on things;)

    Based on probability alone, yes.

    I have little doubt there is life elsewhere in the Universe. Are they visiting us? NO.

  • I don't think one way or the other. I'm waiting for real data on the matter.
