What to expect at high school tryouts as a QB?

I am currently a freshman and missed playing last year. I want to start as a sophomore playing as a QB though. I played in 7th and 8th grade as QB, and and also in elementary school( not as a QB). But I can throw a relatively accurate pass at about 45 yards away. Max throw is probably 70 or 80 yards, but no accuracy can be promised there. I am almost 15, 5'11 and around 180. What should I be expecting during tryouts, and how can I get a spot as a starting QB? Thanks.

I highly encourage you to join your high school football team next season. It will still not (yet) be too late for you to start playing football again.

Based on your height and weight, as well as your arm strength and accuracy, I believe that you will make a very good fit at quarterback. For your age, you have the ideal size for a high school freshman/sophomore quarterback.

Remember, the best way to prove yourself is through actions, not words. My best advice for you is to work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition, what you need to do this (and every) offseason is eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch starting quarterback in high school football, who could go on to play college football.

By the way, your chances of playing college football depend on your performance in football during your sophomore, junior, and especially senior, years of high school. If you perform very well in football during your final 3 years of high school, you will greatly improve your chances of getting recruited to play for a college football program in the future.

hey man a have the same dream and at the same position. im preety good in back yard football. you need precision more than power. just make sure you can get away from pressure without getting nervous. you need to wrk with some weights and stuff. just keep cool in high school as a qb show your team what you can do and all ways keep focused in the game no matter win or lose. trust me just go out and do your best.

ask your coach if theres a summer pass league and play qb there most of the time qbs are selected before practice so your coach can see how wel you do at qb in the pass only league at your size on jv it might be better to put you on oline or run the ball tryouts its the same while the lineman do sled work you will ether practice with the backs with handoffs and do pass lines with the receivers then at the end you will play football agiasnt your teams defense or a scout teams d

Here's what anybody who was ever on a team knows: You don't try out for a position; you try out for the team. Most school don't even have tryouts and they take anyone who signs up. Your coach will assign positions for you on offense and defense. He knows what your team has and what it needs. We haven't seen you or the rest of your team so we can't say.

The number two football expert in the known universe will come along and tell you that your stats make you an ideal high school <insert position here> who could go on to play college ball if you eat healthy and run a lot. He/she/it might tell you to concentrate on one position only. If you choose to believe his/her/its "advice" be sure to tell your coach that a "top football expert" told you that you should play <insert position here>. You will still have time to work your way back up the depth charts once your coach quits laughing. .

You cant throw 80 yards. Most NFL QBs cant even throw 60 yards.
