If I go on holiday do you still have to pay rent?
I have never rented or owned a house before..... but if I was to go on holiday to go visit my girlfriends family in Spain would I still have to pay rent even though I am not there

If you rented a car for a month and only drove it for three days, would you have to pay for the entire month? You certainly would.
When you rent an apartment you are not renting time. You are renting space. You pay for that space whether you occupy it or not.

YES - you pay weather you are there or not - it's in the lease (if renting) and it's in the note (if you own)
You don't get a holiday from paying your bills - what you will get is a bad credit history

Yes. You landlord has a mortgage to pay every month. When you rent a place you are required to pay the rent every month for the term of the lease.

Yes, of course you do! You still have possession of the unit.
The LL does not have to lose any income just because you go away on vacation.
